To use your friends XP Installation disk make sure the edition and version of your friends XP CD is same as your installed windows xp operating system. Such as, if you have microsoft windows xp service pack 3 with professional version and 64 bit so you have must have the same XP installation CD. If you put different XP CD for installation your XP product key will not work.
You can easily check your computer operating system details. Just click on START —> go to RUN —> type DXDIAG and press ENTER. Then computer will open a new window with complete computer details.
