Windows XP Hardware compatibility Reports tell you which physical devices in your computer will work properly after installing Windows XP Operating System. It is always a god idea to perform a hardware compatibility program before you install any new operating system in your computer like Windows XP, Vista, Seven and Eight. To generate Windows XP hardware Compatibility Report, you can use Windows XP Compatibility Tool which comes with Windows XP Installation Disk.
To Generate Windows XP Hardware Compatibility Report follow this steps :
1. Insert your Windows XP Installation Disk in your CD/DVD Rom.
2. Go to Windows XP Start Menu and click RUN. Shown in below picture.

3. In RUN dialog box type d:\i386\winnt32 /checkupgradeonly (d:\ is my local computer CD/DVD Drive. Change it with your own one) and click OK. Shown in below picture

Check the Windows XP Hardware Compatibility Report
After pressing ENTER, typing the above command in RUN Dialog box computer will start to Generate Windows XP Hardware Compatibility Report. If computer detects any problem in your hardware compatibilities for Windows XP, this report will tell you what to do like upgrade or installing the hardware driver.
To show you, how this Windows XP Hardware Compatibility Report look like, I just run this hardware compatibility command in my XP operating system. But it didn’t detect any hardware compatibility problem. Shown in below picture.

You can save this Windows XP hardware Compatibility Report as text file in your computer also.
